Dateline: Sun Valley, CA -- H-Studio and artist, Shlomi Haziza, creators of original works of art, has created an In Store Gallery program for contemporary home furnishings retailers.

Shlomi Haziza, who is known for his high quality, rich dramatic sculptural designs in his studio’s signature material of cast acrylic, says that the home furnishings stores that are the most successful with H Studio’s artwork, are those who commit to important displays. "My artwork does not need to be viewed as a decorative accessory to furniture in order for it to sell in furniture stores," states Haziza. H Studio is now creating Limited Edition collections of art that was originally targeted for the art galleries. At the recent International Home Furnishings Market in High Point last month, the studio reported that the Limited Edition Collections were the most successful. The studio limits the production to 300 to 500 pieces in an edition, and each sculpture is signed and numbered. Since the studio’s inception in 1993 Haziza has concentrated on original designs and innovations that have little commercial application. As a result Haziza has distributed most of his signature artworks through Art Galleries who cater to an exclusive clientele, most of whom, are serious collectors of fine art and celebrities.

Haziza’s philosophy about home furnishings stores has consistently been, that the better furniture store is looking for distinctive quality art that will separate them from their competition in the way they present modern and exclusive furniture in a ‘gallery’ feeling." Haziza points to several stores that are members of the Contemporary Design Group, an associated group of home furnishings retailers who combine merchandising, marketing, and advertising efforts for the benefit of its customers, its retail members, and suppliers. Contemporary Design Group, CDG, was started by Ed and Howard Haimsohn of Lawrance with two stores in San Diego and has grown to include nearly twenty stores across the United States. According to Sandie Garrett, CDG vice president, "Our group had a good year in 98' with H Studio and our business seems to be growing." Garrett reports that the top five stores in volume with H Studio are Galloway’s in Tampa, Elan in Omaha, Krispin’s in Ohio, Foster’s in Seattle, and Gregory’s in Colorado.

According to Ralph Galloway of Galloway’s in Tampa, "We maintain a heavy inventory of H Studio... if you want sell it, you have to show it. We think H Studio is a good company, we like their merchandise and the way that they do business." Dean Isler, Galloway’s buyer comments, "We show about four of H Studio’s Waterfalls. I back each one up three times. My least expensive Waterfall retails for about $2,000.00. We love Shlomi’s artwork, I probably place an order a week." Ms. Connie Stevenson, co-owner of Elan in Omaha, Nebraska states, "The more of Shlomi’s artwork that we group together, the better it sells and the more colorful the pieces, the better the display. Our sales will fall off if we let our inventory get too low, so we try not to let that happen."

The studio has also recently announced that it has completed an elaborate upgrade to its Computer systems (see www.hstudio.com). Incorporating new computer technology, Haziza has also recently created an in house state-of-the-art graphics laboratory and photography studio located on the studio’s Los Angeles premises.
